Who writes Beautiful Basics?

My name is Kassie and I’m a chronically ill 28-year-old from a small town in Oregon. I have a passion for all things beauty and green living. I write about natural and organic beauty products as well as DIY beauty recipes and other odds and ends. I'm also an animal lover and believe beauty should be cruelty free. I'm a proud cat mommy and vegetarian.

I’m not an expert or a professional but I have learned a lot about beauty and skin care by experimenting and teaching myself. I like to keep my posts as positive as possible. I love testing out products but I only write about the ones I love. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy!

I also have a blog that chronicles my life living with chronic illness.

Shower Cleaner

No one can argue about the benefits of using natural ingredients and products but there is one downside that comes to mind, dirtier showers. I don't know if this happens to everyone or if it's just what happens in my house but my shower gets coated with an oily residue that's tough to clean.

My Mom shared this recipe that she uses with me so I thought I should pass it on. It's easy and healthy!

Combine the baking soda and castile soap together in a bowl, and then add the water and lemon juice. You should need about a tablespoon of each but gauge it based on the consistency, which should be a soft paste. Once you have your paste you can scrub the shower and tub clean. Once you rinse your shower should be sparkling!

Bonus cleaning tip – pour some baking soda into your toilet and then add some vinegar! Of course it's not magical, you'll still have to use your muscles and a sponge, but it's a great cleaning solution.

What a great idea! I am trying to keep the poisons out of my house, too. And Dr. Bronner's has become my favorite all-round body and home cleaner!

Cleaners can get pretty expensive, this is a great 'solution' Ha! I made a pun!

LOL Lisa! That made me giggle. And I agree with you @MDKennedy, Dr. Bronner's is really great!
