Who writes Beautiful Basics?

My name is Kassie and I’m a chronically ill 28-year-old from a small town in Oregon. I have a passion for all things beauty and green living. I write about natural and organic beauty products as well as DIY beauty recipes and other odds and ends. I'm also an animal lover and believe beauty should be cruelty free. I'm a proud cat mommy and vegetarian.

I’m not an expert or a professional but I have learned a lot about beauty and skin care by experimenting and teaching myself. I like to keep my posts as positive as possible. I love testing out products but I only write about the ones I love. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy!

I also have a blog that chronicles my life living with chronic illness.

Great Grapes!

In the stifling heat of the summer months I love to put grapes in the freezer for an icy, healthy snack. In addition to being a tasty treat grapes also make a really great treatment for skin. No matter what your skin type may be grapes are effective and gentle. Grapes can help to remove impurities, gently exfoliate, soften the skin, and give the skin a glow.

You may be asking how grapes can do all that for skin, and I have an answer for you! Grapes are supercharged with polyphenols. Poly what? Grapes are chocked full of antioxidants (called polyphenols) which help prevent signs of aging and also help to keep skin healthy.

You're not going to believe how easy this is! All you have to do is grab a grape, cut it in half, and rub the cut side directly on your face and neck. Let sit for 20 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

I also suggest eating a serving of grapes during the 20 minutes the juice has to sit on your skin. They're so healthy and yummy! I hope you enjoy!
