Nail polish is like icing on a cake, it’s a pretty finishing touch to any look and Julep has the perfect polish to go with any outfit. I was lucky enough to receive a Julep Maven box a couple of months ago and I’m very impressed with Julep! I got to try “Classic With A Twist” which included Keira and January polishes, their Glycolic Hand Scrub, and some fun glitter. Keep in mind - There is no such thing as natural nail polish, but there are healthier alternatives.
If you are unfamiliar with the Julep Maven program the gist of it is that it’s a monthly delivery service that sends the hottest of the moment nail polish colors directly to your door. All of you have to do is take their style quiz and they will custom design a box each month based on your taste. You have the choice to skip the month if you want, but with such gorgeous colors why would you want to? You can even try a new style if you don’t like the original box. The box costs $19.99 a month and is worth over $40. You will receive mani and pedi must haves in each box in addition to 20% of all julep.com purchases and free shipping. They even give you a free month when you refer two of your friends and they join the program.
Now to the best part – Juelp nail polishes are cruelty (which my fur baby Parker loves!), DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin free. They even donate $1 from every bottle of Julep Nail Color to organizations that support women, how cool is that? You know how much I enjoy companies who stand for something and give back!
On to the review now, let’s start with the “Facial for Hands” Glycolic Hand Scrub which smells deliciously citrusy and helps hands look and feel softer and younger without being too harsh or abrasive. This scrub is formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates and is safe enough to use every day. The tube should provide 30 uses and leaves hands smooth, silky, and clean. This alone retails for $32.
Let’s talk about the most exciting feature of the Maven Box now – the nail polishes! Like I mentioned above I received Keira, a deep burgundy shade, and January, retro tomato red with a modern shine. I really love both colors since they are right up my alley. I don’t like anything too intense, bright or neon so these classic colors are perfect for me. They come in a tall, skinny tube unlike any other nail polish I have ever seen and they have a really nice brush, which is easy to use. I would say that I like Keira more just because its consistency is a little bit thicker and it only takes one coat to get full opacity while January takes two and runs a tad. They both wear very well and are long lasting and durable. I usually have a problem with polishes chipping right away but these don’t. The colors are also very flattering and wearable. I wear polish on my toes more than fingers so these are definitely new toe nail polish staples. I think I’m going to wear January nonstop this spring and summer.
