Who writes Beautiful Basics?

 My name is Kassie and I’m a chronically ill 28-year-old from a small town in Oregon. I have a passion for all things beauty and green living. I write about natural and organic beauty products as well as DIY beauty recipes and other odds and ends. I'm also an animal lover and believe beauty should be cruelty free. I'm a proud cat mommy and vegetarian.

Quick Tip - Fruity Face Peel

A lot of people love to eat citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits but before you toss the peel you might want to read on. Did you know that using orange peels on your skin helps to reduce excess oil and unwanted shine? Orange peels absorb sebum from the pores in your skin and also helps get rid of dry skin and flakes. It helps the skin look cleaner, brighter, and less oily. Once you have eaten the delicious meat of the orange, hold on to the peel and rub the white part directly onto your skin. 

Grapefruit also has amazing and beneficial skin properties. If you have an extra grapefruit lying around your fruit basket you can cut it in half and stick your elbows into the fruit. You can also use your leftover breakfast grapefruit. The citric acid helps to lighten dark skin, exfoliate, and smooth. If you want an easier solution you can just rub the inside of the peel onto your elbows, knees, or feet.
