Hi Beautiful! My name is Kassie and I’m a 26 year old from a small town in Oregon. I have a passion for all things beauty, being green, and writing which is why I started Beautiful Basics. In this blog you will find my experiences with natural and organic beauty products from skin care to makeup to hair care and even perfume as well as DIY beauty recipes and other odds and ends.

I’m not an expert or a professional but I have learned a lot about beauty and skin care by experimenting and teaching myself. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy!

Green brush storage

If you watch makeup guru videos on Youtube, you’ve probably seen a collection/storage video or two, which means you’ve also seen the ever popular makeup brush storage of a cute vase with PVC pellets or beanbag stuffing.

I came up with my own “green” take of brush storage that I’d like to share with all of you.

I took an old container, which to be quite honest I think it’s a corn starch container. I had my Dad cut off the top of it with his band saw and then I put a teal strip of monocoat on it. Monocoat is a hobby essential, used for decorating RC airplanes and other things like that. I just happened to have some lying around, but you could use wrapping paper, photos, stickers or anything else you have handy. I then took some rice, both brown and white, and filled the container.

It holds my brushes nicely and keeps them organized, not to mention that it was super cheap and it’s better for the environment than using PVC pellets.

If you ever make your own green makeup brush holder, I’d love to see your pictures, so send away!
