Talk About Hair & Body - Acure Organics

Happy Friday Beautiful! Thanks for stopping by for Part 2 of my Acure Organics review. If you missed the first part, you can click here. Today is all about hair and body products so let’s get started!

Up first on the agenda, a duo of hair care products designed to plump up fine and limp strands of hair to give intense volume. I was sent the Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. Overall, I like this pair but it’s not what I would have picked for myself. While I do have fine hair my strands are typically very dry, as is my scalp. This shampoo seems to be very drying if used too often and the conditioner doesn’t help impart enough moisture into my hair for daily use. I definitely recommend alternating use of this line with something more hydrating. I’m curious about their Moroccan Argan Oil + Argan Stem Cell line, which sounds like it would do the job.

I do, however, like using this shampoo and conditioner duo once or twice a week to clarify and revitalize my hair. I also like using it if I have an important event or big day ahead of me. It cleanses well and really does make my hair look much more full and voluminous. I’m not the biggest fan of the scent as it is a bit medicinal but it’s not terrible or unbearable. These hair products also seem to help my style last longer and keep my roots from getting greasy very quickly.

The final two products in my review are both body care related. The Sensitive Unscented Body Wash, which is formulated with CoQ10 and Argan Stem Cells, is a rich and creamy moisturizing body wash. It is very soothing and intensely hydrating. I’m more of a soap kind of girl but I do like this, especially for shaving. It rinses cleanly and leaves skin feeling soft.

Their Unscented Cocoa Butter + CoQ10 Ultra Hydrating Body Lotion is my new absolute favorite daily lotion. I’m obsessed! It’s so light yet deeply hydrating. My skin drinks this lotion up and feels completely healthy and moisturized after application. It has no scent at all, which is a must for my daily body lotion. I’m so picky when it comes to lotions because I hate that heavy, tacky feeling some moisturizers leave on the skin but this one is not heavy or greasy at all! I can’t say enough good things about this lotion but I will say that I will always have a bottle handy because it’s that awesome!

This wraps up my thoughts on the Acure Organics products I have been fortunate enough to test out. Have a great weekend!

Talk About Skin Care - Acure Organics

When I asked you Beauties what you wanted to see on the blog a large number of you asked me for my thoughts on Acure Organics and their line of products. I contacted the company and I received a box of goodies that I have been testing out for about a month now. Acure Organics is an amazing family owned and operated company who believes in providing high quality fair trade, natural and certified organic personal care products. They never test on animals or include parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances or colors, or any other harmful ingredients. Their products are also really affordable!

Without further ado, here is part one of my Acure review and my thoughts on the skin care products they sent me.

As you may know, I have normal to dry skin that is fairly sensitive. I also have a very sensitive nose when it comes to fragrance so I have really been enjoying the fragrance free Sensitive Facial Cleanser Argan Oil + Probiotic. It is a fairly thick and creamy cleanser that hydrates and plumps up the skin to leave it looking healthy. This cleanser is perfect for my skin! It is extremely gentle so I can use it daily, or even twice a day. I really love how it leaves my face feeling soft and clean without irritating or stripping my skin. This has officially earned a spot on my top 5 facial cleansers list. I really like it because it’s so simple, yet effective! If you’re curious about the ingredients you can click here, where you can also learn more about the product.

I have also been testing out the Balancing Rose + Red Tea Facial Toner. Although this particular toner is marketed towards those with combo to oily skin I really like it and would say that it would be suitable for all skin types. It does a fantastic job of keeping my skin balanced and smooth, as well as helping my moisturizer absorb better. I use this in the morning and it seems to soothe any redness I may have and help perfect and balance my skin. I also really love the glass bottle and the fact that it comes with a spray top. This is a very refreshing toner with a gorgeous slightly rosy scent to it.

Next up is the Argan Stem Cell + CFG Cell Stimulating Facial Mask, which both my Mom and I have tried several times. As a beauty blogger I have tried dozens upon dozens of facial masks but have yet to come across a mask like this one. It seems fairly average upon first application, but once the mask is dry and the time has come to rinse off it becomes foamy. I’ve never used a foamy mask and I like it a lot! It’s extremely gentle so even my Mom (who has highly reactive skin) can use it! There is no tight, uncomfortable sensation that goes along with this mask and is instead very refreshing and even a bit cooling. We have both noticed cleaner, brighter, softer, more hydrated skin after using this mask. Like the toner, it also seems to help with any redness.

The final facial product I’ve been playing around with from Acure Organics is their Marula Oil, which can also be included in the hair and body categories as well. I’m a big fan of oils so I was really excited to try this one out. Acure’s Marula Oil is 100% pure, wildcrafted without pesticides, cold pressed and unrefined. It has a slight scent but it is not offensive at all. I’ve been using it a lot since it arrived and I really like it overall. I do have to say that it is not moisturizing enough on its own as facial oil, but I have found that it works extremely well over a moisturizing lotion or cream. I love the results that layering this oil with other products gives me. I love the dropper applicator as well!

That sums up my Acure Organics facial care review. You can check out my thoughts on the body and hair products I’ve been experimenting with by clicking here.

Talk About It - Spa Sonic Skin Care System Face & Body Polisher

I’m a tool kind of girl, and I don’t mean hammers or drills. Skin care and cosmetic tools are some of my favorite things in the world and I’ve recently fallen in love with a Face & Body Polisher. When I was contacted by Spa Sonic to review their Skin Care System I was very excited about the opportunity. I’ve been using a drugstore skin cleansing system for the past two years and I really do like it but this one is even more amazing.

Several of you have asked for my thoughts on Clarisonic and their Skin Cleansing Systems but with cheaper alternatives like this, that work super well, I just can’t justify the cost. The Spa Sonic Skin Care System works so well I have no interest in trying any other systems.

I’ve been using it for less than two weeks and I’ve already seen such a huge difference in my skin. I’ve even received several compliments on how good my skin has been looking, and this is the only thing in my routine that has changed so I know this tool is the reason. My skin is smoother, clearer, cleaner, and a lot brighter. Before I started using this I had a patch of congested skin on my temple and after using this every day the patch has vanished. This system gets my skin really clean, deep down to each pore. It also seems to really help my serums and moisturizers absorb more easily.

The Spa Sonic Skin Care System Face & Body Polisher set includes:

1 Body polishing unit (in white, pink, or lavender)

2 Small facial brushes

1 Large body brush

1 Facial buffer

1 Pumice stone

Four pack of AA batteries

I don’t really like the body brush and I haven’t used the pumice stone, because I can’t stand the feeling of pumice, but the facial brush and buffer are really great. I use it once a day in the shower (bonus – it’s totally waterproof!). It is a gentle brush but I have found that if you use it for too long or too often it can irritate the skin a bit so you need to figure out what works best for you and your skin.

I think the Spa Sonic Skin Care System would make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift for the special women in your life. This system typically retails for $69.99 but is currently on sale at Drugstore.com. You can also find it on sale at Costco and Target.

You can also check out Spa Sonic on Facebook and Twitter.

(FTC : The company sent me a Spa Sonic Skin Care System free of charge for review consideration. I am not being compensated for this review. All thoughts, as always, are my own and honest.)

Talk About It - S.W. Basics of Brooklyn (+GIVEAWAY!)

Adina Grigore originally created several products for herself and her sensitive skin but now her line of healthy and eco-friendly products are sold online and at retailers across the country. Each and every one of Adina’s products are 100% pure, natural, and sustainable. S.W. Basics of Brooklyn is a “no-frills” line of skin care products made with 5 or less ingredients each that are either certified organic, Fair Trade, or sourced from small, family farms.

I’ve been testing out a few of their products, including all 4 of their lip balms, lately and have really been enjoying the simplicity of them. The first one being the Makeup Remover, which is made up of Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Olive Oil, and Organic Jojoba Oil. I typically make my own eye makeup remover but it’s really nice having a bottle of it all ready to go. The combination of oils is great! It doesn’t leave behind a film or irritate my eyes. It works really well and gets every last bit of makeup.

I have also been trying out the Toner for the past month and a half. I tend to use this toner during the day because it really helps banish any case of oily skin and prevent pesky pimples. The ingredient list is comprised of Water, Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Witch Hazel, and Organic Essential Oils of Clary Sage and Sandalwood. I don’t really like the scent of this toner, at all, but it goes away really quickly. It helps to cleanse my skin and help speed up the process of blemishes so it’s totally worth it!

Now let’s talk about their Organic Lip Balms, because they are fantastic! All four balms (Cocoa, Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Citrus) have the same base ingredients of Organic Beeswax, Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil, and Organic Cocoa Butter. The Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Citrus all have added Organic Essential Oils. I’ve been totally obsessed with all 4 of these balms and reach for them more than any other lip product lately. The Cocoa Lip Balm is my favorite, but the others are lovely as well.

You can learn more about the company or purchase some products of your own by clicking here to be taken to their website. You can also visit them on Twitter.

Adina was kind enough to offer a Complete Mini Kit as a giveaway prize for you, my lovely readers. All you have to do to enter is use the Rafflecopter form below. It may take a moment or two to load. Good luck! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Talk About It - Scientific Organics Spirulina Toner

I have been fortunate enough to try out a few products from EmerginC’s organic line, Scientific Organics, and have loved each and every one of them with a passion. I have been so impressed with this product line and would go as far to say that this is definitely one of my absolute favorite brands. Their products are superb, no joke! I actually have their Phytocell Cream and In Lips We Trust Super Antioxidant Lip Balm on my ultimate beauty wish list!

Today let’s talk about their Spirulina Toner. This toner is extremely gentle and seems to really help balance and nourish my skin. I use it immediately after cleansing in the evening by applying to a cotton pad and gently wiping all over my face. It instantly makes my skin feel a lot softer and more even in texture. It appears to leave my skin looking brighter as well.

It also does a good job of leaving my skin feeling clean and hydrated, unlike some toners that leave behind a film while stripping the skin. While my skin is still damp from the toner I apply my night cream and it seems to really help my skin absorb the moisturizer. My skin is left feeling very balanced!

This toner has a very light scent, that is similar to the other Scientific Organics’ products I’ve used, and I really enjoy it. It is a very clean, fresh, slightly citrus-y scent which is in no way offensive or overpowering. Some of the ingredients that make up this power tonic are Kombucha, Grape Stem Cells, Algae Extract, Spirulina, Green and White Tea, Aloe Vera, and Red Algae but you can find a complete list of ingredients by clicking here.

Talk About It - O.R.G. Organic Mineral Peel

Since March 1st I’ve been experimenting and playing around with a new type of facial peel from O.R.G. Skincare called Organic Mineral Peel. An international team of dermatologists, aestheticians, and skincare experts created this Organic Mineral Peel to instantly remove dry skin and renew the complexion. It was formulated to be incredibly gentle and nonabrasive so anyone can use it to brighten and smooth his or her skin.

The ingredient list is so simple and features only healthy and natural ingredients like Vitamins A and B1, Omega 3, Grapefruit Seed, Jojoba Seed, Aloe Vera, Licorice Root Extract, and Milk Thistle. These combine to create a unique skin perfecting solution unlike anything else I have tried before.

This Mineral Peel comes in the form of a spray that you spritz directly onto a dry face (or body), let sit for 5 to 7 seconds, and then massage your skin using small circular motions with your fingertips or washcloth. You will start to notice small pills (like a sweater would have) forming on your skin from the dead skin cells being removed. Once you are finished rinse with warm water and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

I’ve been doing this twice a week, however I especially love doing it before an event or something that I want to look my best for. I’ve found that if I go through this process before I get ready my skin looks great and my makeup applies flawlessly. It also makes my skin appear brighter and more even in tone and texture. If I have any dull skin or dry patches they simply vanish after using the Organic Mineral Peel, and my skin is left feeling so soft! It also seems to help blemishes heal more quickly!

Although I have been testing out the Face version of the Organic Mineral Peel I have found that I can use this on my back to help prevent breakouts. It has made a huge difference in the clarity and texture of the skin on my back and I’m so happy with it!

You can learn more about O.R.G. Skincare by clicking here to be taken to their website. You can also learn more about their Organic Mineral Peel or purchase your own bottle by clicking here. You can also check out the video tutorial on YouTube.

Talk About It - Adventuress Vividly Restorative Skin Purifier

My skin has been struggling to stay clear in the past few months but in March I added a new product by Adventuress to my skin care routine that my skin has absolutely been loving. The Vividly Restorative Skin Purifier has made a huge difference in the clarity of my skin and I’m hooked, even though I didn’t like it very much at first.

The reason I didn’t like it very much in the beginning was due to the fact that it didn’t seem to work well with the moisturizer I was using at the time. This serum isn’t moisturizing enough on it’s own for my normal to dry skin so I’ve found that applying it onto a clean face, letting it dry completely, and following up with a facial oil is perfect for me.

When used daily this serum is extremely effective at keeping my pores unclogged and my skin unblemished. If I do get a pimple it seems to go away a lot more quickly with the use of this product. It also seems to help with the tone and brightness of my skin as well. This product also claims to firm the skin, although I can’t say that I’ve noticed my skin becoming any tighter with use.

There is no added fragrance although it does have a very faint, and nonirritating, natural citrus smell that goes away as soon as the serum dries. It retails for $35 and you get 1.0 FL OZ in each bottle. It doesn’t have fancy packaging, by any means, but it gets the job done and the bottle has an airless dispenser, which helps keep contaminants out.

The ingredients are: Water, Willow Bark Extract, Pyrus Cydonia Seed Extract, Witch Hazel, Bilberry Extract, Sugar Cane Extract, Sugar Maple Extract, Orange Fruit Extract, Lemon Extract, Caprylyl Glycol and Phenoxyethanol , Xantham gum, and Olive Leaf Extract.

To learn more about the company you can click here to visit their website. You can also learn more about, or purchase, this product by clicking here.

DIY Acne Wipes

I feel like I haven’t posted a DIY beauty recipe in such a long time so I figured it was the perfect time! Besides, spring is on it’s way and I tend to experiment with beauty recipes more in the warmer months so I have a feeling I’ll be posting a lot soon.

Anyway, let’s talk about what’s on the agenda for today. I think I’ve probably mentioned to you in the past that I have a problem with breakouts on my back. My spots are so embarrassing and even a little painful. They also always seem to scar, which is super irritating. I’ve been testing different things out and nothing seems to keep them completely at bay but I use dead sea salt in the shower, which helps quite a bit, and then I get out of the shower and use a DIY acne pad.

If you want to make your own DIY cleansing wipes (think Stridex pads, but healthy and natural) keep reading to find out how.

In a separate bowl, combine the essential oils and witch hazel and make sure the ingredients are incorporated together. Put your cotton rounds in your container and then pour the mixture over the cotton rounds, let it sit and absorb for several minutes.

You can use your freshly made wipes on your back like I do or on your face! Be sure to test your skin for an allergy to either essential oil before applying though.

Talk About It - Eminence Organic Skin Care

I’ve been testing out the Bright Skin Cleanser by Eminence Organic Skin Care and I have to say that I’m fairly impressed. The company has been making organic skin care since 1958 and I can see why they have earned so many awards and accolades in the past 55 years. My skin was going through a dry spell and was patchy and flaky when I started using this cleanser and noticed an immediate different in the texture of my skin. I was totally surprised by how soft my skin felt after using it for the first time.

It’s light green in color and has a very smooth and creamy consistency. It also comes in a huge (8.4 fl oz) bottle that will last a very long time. It sells for $38 but you get a lot of product for the money.

It’s extremely gentle and refreshing. This cleanser is moisturizing, but not heavy and rinses clean without stripping the skin or leaving a residue behind. I have normal to dry skin and my Mom has combination skin and we both really like this cleanser. I can’t say that I have noticed a change in any dark spots or age spots, which is a technicality because I don’t actually have any, so I can’t comment on how well it fades discoloration. I can, however, comment on the fact that my skin appears to glow after using it.

The only negative thing I can say is that is has a very strong scent. It’s not an awful scent, but it is very potent and lingers for hours after cleansing. It reminds me of Irish Spring soap for whatever reason.

I was also sent the Bamboo Firming Fluid, although the smell was too much for me, so I had to pass it on to my Mom who has been using it since it arrived. Here are her thoughts: “Although the smell is strong at first, it does dissipate in a short time. It hydrates well and is an excellent natural Retinol alternative. It firms and I believe I have seen a difference in my skin after using this product. My skin is becoming much more “mature” than I would like it to be but at 45 I guess that is to be expected.”

To learn more about the company you can visit their website by clicking here. You can find Eminence in a spa near you by using this locator. You can also purchase the products online at Dermstore.com.

Talk About It - Pomegranate Nail Lacquer Royal Fairy Tale Collection

Last Halloween I posted a review of Pomegranate Nail Lacquer and my thoughts on a couple of their fall collection polishes and now it’s time to talk about their most recent collection. The company recently launched 14 new lovely shades in a collection entitled the Royal Fairy Tale Collection. The polishes in this collection are fit for any princess and I’m so excited to share with you!

I was given the opportunity to choose 2 of the Royal Fairy Tale polishes to review and let me tell you how difficult it was to pick. Each and every color in this collection is stunning and it was nearly impossible but in the end I went for Book of Spells and Storm the Castle.

I have a feeling I will be wearing Book of Spells and spring and summer because I love it so much! The company describes this polish on their website as a “rich bronze metallic foil”. It’s so beautiful! I’ve never worn a shade like this before but it’s so gorgeous I don’t ever want to take it off. It’s everything I dreamed it would be. The formula is divine. It goes on smoothly and easily. It also wears well and has a lovely high shine finish.

The other shade I ended up choosing is Storm the Castle, which is described as a “deep, cloudy teal-grey jelly”. This color is so, so pretty but unfortunately it’s not very flattering with my pale skin. I also found it a little harder to work with than the other Pomegranate polishes I have tried. It is unbelievably shiny which makes me appreciate it more but I’m just not sure this particular polish is for me. I will, however, try it again once my skin gets a bit of color in the warmer months.

As always, I want to point out that there is no such thing as truly natural nail polish but Pomegranate Nail Lacquers are healthier and safer since they are 4-free (meaning no toluene, formaldehyde, DBP or camphor) and cruelty free. Another important selling point is that their polish is made in the USA and retails for $8.50.

Aslo, if you’re interested in picking up a bottle of any of these colors for yourself you might want to act quickly because all Pomegranate Nail Lacquers are available in limited quanities.

To learn more about the company or to purchase your choice of polish you can visit Pomegranate Nail Lacquers website. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Talk About It - Sia Botanics Desert Aloe & Jojoba Cream

Sia Botanics is a line of skin care products based on the power of the botanicals found in the Sonoran Desert like Prickly Pear, Aloe, Jojoba, and White Sage. They have formulated 4 different collections with oils and extracts from these plants to benefit all skin types whether you have dry, aging, or oily and blemished skin. All of their products are vegan and cruelty free as well as free from gluten, parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, and synthetic colors or fragrance.

Thanks to Sia Botanics I now have a new favorite facial moisturizer. I seriously love the Desert Aloe and Jojoba Cream. This cream is formulated to nourish and renew dry and dehydrated skin and I feel that it has helped my skin so much this past month. My skin has been incredibly dehydrated and flaky this winter and when I started using this cream in January my skin immediately started to improve.

I feel like this facial cream is very simple yet effective. I use it both day and night and it works well under makeup or on its own. It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave my face looking greasy or shiny. It doesn’t feel tacky or sticky like some moisturizers for dry skin do. It also doesn’t irritate my skin or leave a buildup behind.

This cream is made up of: Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Jojoba oil, Grapeseed Oil, Emulsifying Wax NF, Palm Stearic Acid, Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin E, Witch Hazel, Xanthan Gum, Organic Black Willowbark Extract, Mannan, Neem Oil, Rosemary Oil, and Citric Acid. It comes in a 2 oz jar is costs less than $20 so it is very affordable.

To learn more about Sia Botanics and their products you can visit their website by clicking here.

Talk About It - Booda Organics

I want to share my newest obsession with you today, which just so happens to be a little tin of magical goodness called Booda Butter. Booda Butter is a 100% pure and natural multitasking moisturizer that can be used from head to toe; in fact, you can even check out the 50 ways the company suggests you can use this product by clicking here.

Booda Butter is made with only a handful of healthy and organic ingredients. The all-star ingredient lineup is made up of Organic Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, and Organic Olive Oil. The company promises to only use pure, organic, and vegan ingredients and never include any toxic chemicals or yucky preservatives. All of their products are cruelty free and handmade in the USA.

Booda Organics’ Booda Butter has become an absolute staple in my daily routine. I use it for moisturizing my body after I get out the shower, hydrating my hands and cuticles, as an eye cream, on dry patches on my face, as a lip balm, and even to tame flyaways but I’m still in the process of discovering additional ways to use this delicious smelling solid yet soft butter.

It starts off as a solid but melts as it gets warmed up between your fingers. It is not scented with any type of fragrance but it does naturally smell of cocoa butter. It smells delicious and feels amazing on the skin. It is very thick and nourishing but is not sticky or heavy. It provides long lasting hydration that leaves skin feeling soft and healthy.

Speaking of long lasting hydration, the company also makes a Booda Butter Naked Lip Balm, which is formulated with Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Olive Oil and Candelilla Wax. It is truly unscented, flavor-free, moisture infusing, and gentle on my ultra sensitive lips.

I’m such a big fan of Booda Organics and their wonderful line of products. I even adore the packaging. I give them 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend you check them out. To learn more about the company you can visit their website by clicking here.

The Booda Butter comes in two sizes, a 2.3 oz tin and an 8.4 oz BPA-free jar. The Naked Lip Butter comes in a flat .15 oz tube.
(FTC : These products were provided to me by the company free of charge for review consideration. I am not being compensated to write this review. All thoughts and opinions, as always, are my own and honest.)

Talk About It - Vapour Organic Beauty - - Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my Vapour Organic Beauty review! Today we’re talking lips and cheeks! Let’s jump right in, shall we?

The Siren Lipstick in Tempt 401, described as a classic medium mauve, is the perfect MLBB (my lips but better) shade for me. You all know how sensitive my lips are but this lipstick is great for me since it is non-irritating, longwearing, and super moisturizing. I absolutely love and adore everything about this lipstick!

If you’re a gloss lover then you might be interested in checking out the Elixir Lip Gloss or Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss. I don’t find the plumping version to be very plumping at all but I don’t mind that since my lips are fairly full as is. The Elixir Lip Gloss comes in a squeeze tube while the Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss comes in a lovely glass tube with a brush applicator. Neither are sticky, goopy, or tacky. Both lip-glosses are very hydrating and wearable (meaning they don’t look like little girl lip glosses, as some can). The shade of Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss I received is Pout 407, a sheer pinky nude, and the shade of Elixir Lip Gloss I’ve been testing is Enigma 305, a sparkling lilac mauve.

Vapour’s Aura Multi-Use Blush Classic adds the perfect touch of color to lips, eyes or cheeks. This product comes in 5 pretty shades including a light peachy pink, sheer pinky peach, fuchsia, rose, and a sheer soft pink. I’ve been using the soft pink shade, called Crush 201, and love it as a blush color. It’s soft a velvety product that adds a lovely glow to the cheeks. It blends so easily and wears well throughout the day. This shade is one I would have never chosen for myself but it’s unbelievably flattering on me and I really love it.

The final product I want to talk about in this two-part review is the Trick Stick in the shade Dazzle 702, a shimmering golden highlight. Trick Stick is described as “the Makeup Artist’s secret for a lit–from–within glow”. I’ve tried many highlighters in my time and this one is possibly my favorite since it’s not loaded with chunky or iridescent glitter. It’s very sheer and wearable. I particularly like to use the product on my brow bones and inner corners of the eye as well as my cupid’s bow.

Something I forgot to mention in part one of this review is that all of these products have a very light citrus-y scent to them and even though I typically don’t like my products to have any fragrance, I really like this one. I also forgot to mention how lovely, albeit simple, Vapour’s packaging is. I really love the quality and look of each and every product.

Despite the fact that Vapour products have a bit of a higher price tag than some of the other brands out there, I highly recommend you check out the line. The quality as well as the variety of products is truly impeccable and as I mentioned in part one, since these products are waterless they will last a lot longer than the typical natural cosmetic so it’s totally worth the splurge in my opinion.

To purchase your own Vapour products you can visit their website by clicking here.
Talk About It - Vapour Organic Beauty - - Part 1

My passion for cosmetics was born many, many years ago while playing as a small child in my Mom’s train case. In my late teen years my love grew to encompass high end products when I discovered Sephora and makeup groups on MySpace. Then I went green and everything changed. I discovered that most commercial makeup contained icky, and frankly quite terrifying ingredients that no one should ever apply to their skin.

Sometimes “natural” makeup can leave us with a lot of questions about what is truly natural and what really works. Vapour Organic Beauty leaves no unanswered questions behind thanks to their lovely shade selection, wide array of products, and truly healthy formulations.

Vapour products are 100% natural and made with Certified Organic, minimally processed, food-grade ingredients. Their formulations contain 70% organic ingredients and 30% vitamins and minerals. You will never find parabens, phalates, gluten, artificial fragrance or color, nano particles, or any other toxic chemicals in their cosmetics or skin care. You'll also never have to worry about these products being tested on our furry friends since they are cruelty free and Leaping Bunny Certified. Another plus, Vapour’s products are waterless so they have a shelf life of 2 years (short shelf life is my biggest complaint when it comes to natural cosmetics).

I could go on and on about the company (click here to learn more) and their awesome philosophy (click here to read about their values) but instead I think it’s time to talk about the face products. I have been playing around with Vapour products since November and have only nice things to say.

The first products I want to discuss are the Stratus Instant Skin Perfector and Stratus Soft Focus Skin Perfector. I tried both of these in the shade 904, which “perfects & color balances light to medium sallow/olive skin”. Essentially both of these are the same product, although the Stratus Instant Skin Perfector comes in stick form and is suited for normal, dry, and mature skin while the Stratus Soft Focus Skin Perfector is a liquid that comes in a pump bottle that works best for normal, combination, and oily skin types. The stick version has a more dewy finish while the liquid is more of a sheer satin.

These skin perfectors are amazing. They are described as an “organic BB Cream; a 3–in–1 moisturizer, primer and no-color foundation”. At first I was really apprehensive about these because they look really shimmery but upon application skin feels silky soft and looks radiant, diffused, and super smooth. I love the way both feel on my skin, under makeup or alone. I’ve been reaching for the Stratus Soft Focus more often while my Mom who has more mature skin prefers the Stratus Instant Skin Perfector.

Let’s talk foundation next. I’ve been wearing 115 in both the Atmosphere Luminous Foundation (stick) and Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation (liquid). I really like both versions and the color could not be more perfect for me. I like the Luminous version for day to day wear since it has a light to medium coverage and the Soft Focus for days when I need a little more coverage as it offers medium to full coverage. These never feel heavy or look caked on. These formulations blend magically and seamlessly into the skin and basically make your skin look like your skin, only better. Vapour’s foundation just might be the best foundation I have ever worn!

Next up is the Illusionist Concealer in 020. This shade is a bit too dark for me during these cold, winter months but I’m thinking I’ll be able to use it in the summer. It works on my face if blended in really well but it doesn’t work under my eyes, which is where I need the most coverage. It feels as light as the foundations do and seems to melt into skin. I’ll come back to this product when my skin gets a bit darker and tell you more about it then.

If you’re interested in this luxurious line of natural cosmetics you can visit their website to purchase their products or learn more. You can check out the second part of my Vapour Organic Beauty review, which features my thoughts on some of their lip and cheek products, by clicking here.

Dehydrated Skin Saver

If your skin is feeling the harsh effects of the cold winter months, like mine has been, then todays DIY beauty recipe will be perfect for you. The ingredients in the following mask are nourishing, soothing, and super rich so your skin will drink it all in and be left feeling hydrated and healthy.

Chop up the cucumber and avocado, then place all four ingredients into the blender or food processor to create a paste. Once your mixture is thouroughly blended you can massage the mask onto your freshly cleansed face, neck, and chest. Let the mask sit for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Follow up with your favorite facial oil or moisturizer.

Indie Lee's DIY Coffee Body Scrub

As many of you may already know (from previous blog posts) I’m ill and because of that I sometimes just don’t feel well enough to write. This has been one of those weeks for me. I still wanted to be able to share a recipe with you though and I thought it would be a lot of fun to share a DIY beauty recipe from devoted natural beauty guru Indie Lee, founder of the self-titled all-natural skincare line Indie Lee.

Below she shares one of her at-home recipes for an all-natural scrub containing her favorite ingredient: coffee (which I also love, and wrote about last March. You can read that blog post by clicking here). The caffeine works to dehydrate fat cells and when broken down, acts as a natural exfoliant and can help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

What You Need:
· ½ ounce of sweet almond oil
· 2 tablespoons coffee grinds (espresso roast)
· 5 tablespoons coconut oil
· ¾ cup of arrowroot powder (natural alternative to talc powder)

How to Make It:
1. Combine coffee grinds and sweet almond oil in a large bowl and mix.
2. Add coconut oil and mix well.
3. Fold in the arrowroot powder. Make sure all the coconut clumps are gone.

*Indie Tip: She likes to keep the mixture refrigerated for a day to make it easier to scoop out, like butter.

Talk About It - Black Rock Mud Co. MudPot

My skin has been in serious need of a little extra TLC lately since it’s been freaking out. My skin has been especially congested, dehydrated and broken out! Well let me introduce you to my favorite new mask, the MudPot, a 100% organic and mineral-rich illite clay from the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

Illite clay is the only thing you’ll find in each 4-ounce jar of Black Rock Mud Co.’s MudPot, so you never have to worry about harsh chemicals, preservatives, or other unnatural ingredients. The clay is known to condition, revitalize and sooth the skin as well as draw toxins and impurities from the skin. It helps to regenerate cells and purify the skin thanks to the over 50 naturally occurring trace elements (including Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Iron, and Zinc) found within its structure.

I received my jar from Black Rock Mud in mid-December and have been enjoying a weekly facial since then. It’s a gentle enough mask that you can use it on spots more often than once a week if you desire but I’ve found that once a week works well for my skin. Upon washing the mud off my skin, my face always looks fresh, healthy, and has a lovely glow to it. It also really helps any blemishes that I may have.

It is a bit on the pricey side at $59 but I do think it’s worth it! It has a nice, rich consistency that spreads and no detectable odor whatsoever (and you know I have the nose of a bloodhound!). It comes in a simple yet attractive recyclable jar which is packaged in an awesome box that is embedded with wildflower seeds that you can plant in your garden!

My skin always looks and feels amazing after I apply and rinse off my MudPot facial and if you’re in the market for a new treat for you face I highly suggest this one. You can visit their website to learn more or purchase your very own MudPot.

(FTC : This product was provided to me by the company free of charge for review consideration. I am not being compensated to write this review. All thoughts and opinions, as always, are my own and honest.)

Simple Blemish Busting Mask

I don’t know about you but acne really bums me out. I’ve been lucky for the majority of my life and had clear skin but now that I’m in my mid-twenties my skin has been having some serious hormonal acne problems. I have always known about the benefits of using tea tree oil to combat blemishes but I’m just now beginning to experiment.

Even though the recipe I am sharing with you today is super simple, it’s an awesome treat for your skin. If you’re seeing spots this mask will become your new best friend! The following two ingredients combine to create an antibacterial and antiseptic yet hydrating facial mask.

What you need:
1 tablespoon of honey
3-5 drops of tea tree oil (start with the minimal amount and then you can adjust according to your personal preferences)

Once you mix the tea tree oil into the honey just apply evenly on clean skin and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. If you want to cover your neck and chest you can double the recipe.

You can use this mask several times a week as desired and it should keep pesky pimples at bay. However, this isn’t a miracle mask and it won’t completely heal your skin. In fact, any product promising miracles probably will let you down. This mask will help brighten, refresh, and minimize red and angry blemishes. Remember to spot test before using in case your sensitive to the oil.

Talk About It - True Beauty Box

It’s no secret that I love beauty subscription boxes and today I’m here to talk to you about my new absolute favorite, the True Beauty Box. Unlike other monthly boxes this one comes with 3 to 4 all natural, cruelty free, and full sized products! You also get a couple of samples thrown in.

To get started all you have to do is take a short quiz to determine your beauty profile which helps ensure you get products tailored to your style. There are 4 possible beauty profiles including Eco Chic, Organically On Trend, Naturally Beauty and Purely Pretty (which is what I received).

Once you have figured out which beauty profile represents you the best you get to pick which type of box you would like. You can choose from Flirt, Veganista, and Indulge. The Flirt box is described as “a flirty and fun cosmetic package” while the Veganista is made up of completely vegan products. Both of these cost $30, which is more than your average beauty box costs but keep in mind that you’re getting full size products without having to commit, meaning you can chose to buy only one box if you’d like. The final box is the Indulge box, which costs $40, and is comprised of skin, bath, and body products as well as cosmetics.

In each box you can expect to find completely 100% natural products from brands like Lavera, True Natural, Benecos, as well as others.

I was so excited to receive this box and just as thrilled when it finally arrived and I got to open it. I got 5 full sized products from Benecos, Lavera, and Sante Naturkosmetik as well as 3 sample packets from Lavera.

The products in my box were:

Lavera Long Lash Mascara in Black

Benecos Natural Lip Gloss in Kiss Me

Benecos Lipstick in Purple

Benecos Natural Lipliner in Pink

Sante Soleil Color & Care in 03 Magenta

I’ve opened everything with the exception of the mascara (because I’m peculiar when it comes to mascara, I only like to have one open at a time) and I love each and every product I received. The coolest thing is that they’re shades I wouldn’t necessarily have picked for myself, but they all look really nice when I wear them. Also, my sensitive lips aren’t bothered by any of the formulations.

I highly recommend checking out True Beauty Box by visiting their website. In my opinion it’s totally worth the $30 price tag. Let me know what you think of the True Beauty Box in the comments.
